"From/In the Cave" Posts Explanation

"From/In the Cave" Posts Explanation

These posts are the better parts of my writings during about six months living in a dark bachelor apartment in North End Halifax from the late fall of 2003 to May 2004.

I had few friends visit there, Eli Guhmed (the local pizza maker), and my brother, my parents, Ashley Perry, Laurie Walker, Debbie White, and Craig Daniels, as well as one woman who fell head over heels. After two visits? Being unemployed was never so difficult. It also made it much easier to leave Canada again considering I had really looked for work. Hard to settle back in without a job.
Few people hire internationally experienced workers in Canada, even those with MIBs. Try a search online sometime. Canada is pretty dry and thin when it comes to entry-level business positions, maybe unless you are an accountant and it is fat with lots of laid-off types. A decade or more of US corporate buyouts and plenty of underworked head office types are still slumming around selling insurance. So after sending out CVs I would read and write through the days. Leaving again just started looking, again, like the only alternative.
